Enrollment Options and Fees

Nursery School

Our Infant and Toddler Nursery Programs promote learning through language development, personal skills training, social interaction, creative thinking opportunities, and center-based cooperative activities.

A study in the Journal of Phonetics by University of Washington’s Institute for Learning & Brain Sciences suggests that, by around 10 months, babies are already losing their ability to learn new sounds, and therefore new languages; but a baby raised in a bilingual environment, maintains the ability to distinguish different sounds for longer – until 12 months.
A key component in the International School of Tucson Nursery School is language acquisition. While English is the main language spoken by each teacher, children may have the opportunity to be exposed to Spanish, German, Mandarin, and French.

The Nursery School is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am till 6:00 pm

Preschool

Full language immersion begins in Preschool. Programs are offered in French, German, Spanish and Chinese.

Reception

Entry-level and offered in all IST’s language programs. This level is the only level where part-time (2-4 days) enrollment is possible, although we must warn you that most of these students pressure their parents to attend full-time before the parents are ready!! Full-time enrollment is also available. Students may enter this program once they are three years-old, fully potty-trained and socially and emotionally ready for Preschool.

Transition

Continuation level. This level is for full-time enrollment only. Placement in this program is by the appropriateness of the level for each child rather than his/her birth date. Transition offers all IST’s language programs.

Foundation/Kindergarten

Continuation level. This level is for full-time enrollment only. Placement in this program is by the appropriateness of the level for each child rather than his/her birth date. All IST’s language programs are offered.

Junior School & Middle School

J1-J4, M5 – M8

These levels are for full-time enrollment only. Placement in these programs is by the appropriateness of the level for each child rather than his/her birth date. Due to students’ differing competency levels, different national programs starting at different times and interruptions in schooling resulting from family moves, IST Junior & Middle School programs can have age ranges of up to three years and can overlap in terms of age.

Provision can be made for private tutoring to bring a student to the appropriate level, which will incur an extra fee. Click here for more information on Junior and Middle School entry.
