Junior School & Middle School
Megan Aussprung – Head of Junior & Middle School
Our Junior School is a dual immersion and student learn the language of their choice as well as English, Mathematics, Science, Art, Physical Education, Information and Communication Technology and Personal, social and Health Education.
Our Junior School teachers hold at least a bachelor’s degree (or their country’s equivalent) and years of experience. Our language teachers are native speakers of the language they teach and they come from countries all over the world. Our core subject teachers in the Junior School have been specifically trained in the subjects they teach. Our small class sizes ensure that each child receives the individual attention they need and deserve. This also makes it possible for each teacher to be able to differentiate what they are teaching to each child. Each teacher motivates their students, ensuring that the students enjoy their learning process based on their needs and interests.
Our Junior School academic year is broken down into six units of inquiry. These units are designed to cover a broad range of topics that are developmentally appropriate for each grade level. The core subjects are taught within each unit. At the end of each unit, there is either an Expo or a parent consultation day. An expo is a fun event where the children get to show off to their parents what they have learned. ISTPA serves dinner, and it is a fun event for all. Parent consultation days are when all parents receive feedback on their child’s progress up to that point.
